Marcia W.

Serving Since:

2021

Presidential Commendation:

2023 President’s Bronze Volunteer Service Award

What I do to put energy into my life:

Daily prayer, physical exercise 5-7 days a per week for 90 minutes, strong relationship with friends and family, reading, bird watching and animals.

Why I became a Chaplain:

As I am retired, I was looking for something that would occupy my time and make a difference. I retired after a long career in Law Enforcement and/or working with Public Safety agencies, so doing something after retirement that would touch those same areas seemed like a natural fit. I also had experience in the medical field and was a caretaker for both my late husband (who was a vretired police officer), and my elderly mother for a number of years. Volunteering that involves helping people in times of crisis is where I am most comfortable and effective.
