2023 President’s Silver Volunteer Service Award

What I do to put energy into my life:

I do my best to get some exercise…do a weekly infrared sauna…eat healthy (failing a lot)…get a good amount of sleep. I read the Bible and pray every day. And work hard at thinking positive. I do need to incorporate a monthly massage and some time with friends. There hasn’t been much of that since Covid (2020).

Why I became a Chaplain:

I had no idea where God would finally lead me after all the volunteer work I did over the years. I first attended a brief talk about LECS back in the 90’s… twice…and picked up a brochure at the same time of each event. The meetings piqued my interest in becoming a Chaplain, but that was not to be until later. He had other plans and training for me first…Red Cross; Prison Fellowship: Shepherd’s Door; and Celebrate Recovery. As a result, I served for a time in each of these ministries, which partially prepared me for working with people experiencing trauma and grief. Then, when the time was right, after attending a LECS graduation, God called me to the Chaplaincy to serve our community and the Thin Blue Line! So, why did I become a Chaplain…God called me.
