What I do to put energy into my life:

I celebrate self-care by doing hobbies and spending time with family, including my adult children and grandkids. Some of my hobbies are around the outdoors, including gardening, hiking and enjoying the nature that God has created.

Why I became a Chaplain:

I retired after 20 years of banking. During my years in banking, the banks encouraged employees to volunteer, and some banks paid for time spent volunteering. So when I retired in 2014, I was looking for my next volunteer opportunity. I was led to the LECS website and was viewing what this organization did. To my surprise, I felt led to learn more about LECS and began the discovery by attending a free orientation class. Again, I was praying about the direction of my life, and I felt led by God to continue the process and went to a 24-hour Trauma Response & Care class offered by LECS. After attending the class, I was surprised to believe this was where God was leading me. In 2015, I proceeded into the Chaplain Academy with anticipation of serving the community.
